GM Employee Buys Brand-New Chevy Corvette, Drives 2,400 Miles, Is Already Selling It
Matt is no stranger to America’s sports car. “I have owned several Corvettes from all generations now,” he explains, underscoring his long-standing loyalty to the nameplate. Working on GM products daily, he knew exactly what he wanted from his latest purchase: the pinnacle of Corvette engineering, a car designed to rival Europe’s best on track and road alike. So this is what he is looking for in his next purchase, too.
This particular 2024 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is finished in black over a Jet Black interior, with seats, dashboard, and door panels wrapped in Nappa leather and Alcantara featuring contrasting red stitching and red seatbelts. The driver decides which way to go by holding a flat-bottomed steering wheel in carbon fiber and leather, with the 12 o’clock marked in red. The color combo gives it a stealthy, aggressive presence and confirms its sports car DNA.
The 3LZ trim level ensures luxury features alongside performance, with heated and ventilated GT2 bucket seats, a Bose premium sound system, and a removable roof panel for open-air driving. According to its (clean) Carfax report, the car has had a short and uneventful life: no accidents, no damage, and, of course, no mileage discrepancies.

Under the rear decklid lies what makes this still new Z06 so special: the naturally aspirated 5.5-liter LT6 V8 engine. Featuring a flat-plane crank design usually reserved for exotic supercars, the power plant produces a staggering 670 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.

An eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission puts the power down through the rear wheels. The Z06 redlines at an incredible 8,600 rpm, making the V8 scream from the top of its naturally aspirated lungs through the quad-pipe center exhaust at the back.
With these numbers at hand, the Z06 is in a league of its own. While the Corvette name has long been associated with front-engine performance, the switch to a mid-engine layout for the eighth-generation model opened the door for a new kind of engineering, which translates to precision, balance, performance, and a soundtrack to match all those.

Matt’s car benefits from a handful of tasteful modifications. A Paragon Performance lowering kit and rear wheel spacers improve stance, while Scrape Armor guards protect the front end. The exterior has been professionally paint-corrected and ceramic-coated, with window tint adding to its sleek appearance.
Minor flaws include a few chips on the front, but otherwise, the super low-mileage car is in excellent condition. Routine maintenance has been kept up-to-date (remember who owns this car!), including two oil changes and a software update during its one-year brief life.
For buyers, confidence comes not only from the Chevy Corvette’s almost-showroom condition but also from what is included: two keys, the original owner’s manual, and the window sticker documenting a list of high-dollar options such as Magnetic Selective Ride Control and the front lift adjustable-height system, essential for navigating driveways without scraping the chin spoiler.
Inching closer to its sticker price
The Corvette Z06’s retail price already puts it at the top of Chevrolet’s lineup, but lightly used examples like this one are commanding strong premiums in the marketplace. Average sales hover far above six figures, reflecting demand that has yet to cool.

For now, the flat-plane V8 growls only for its current owner, who, considering his background with Corvettes, might very well go for a ZR1 to replace his Z06. But soon, another enthusiast will take the keys, drop the removable roof, and experience the thrill that convinced a Corvette veteran to buy one in the first place.

With six days to go to the end of the online auction, the highest bid has already reached $100,000. The Z06 comes with an MSRP of $120,000, but the GM technician (officially) paid $133,935 to go home with it.
